I have only been at this office for about six weeks - maybe less - anyway I have been gone for a couple of weeks but there was not ONE problem, issue, todo item, email - NOTHING I had to take care of.
I had been monitoring my email from home but I had only had three or four messages and I fully expected everything to be all fucked up. Instead I need to find a way to get these girls raises or company cars or company paid vacation.
They all took turns sitting at my desk handling whatever came in. If something needed to go up the line they sent it up noting why they sent it up and that I was on vacation. They noted every step, every issue every resolution in worksheets and documents.
If my last office had ran this smooth I would now own the company. I had seventeen plants with Welcome Back messages. I had three coupons for free lunches or after work drinks. I had a beautiful sweater made of some kind of material I have not seen before. It fits perfectly.
After a quickie staff meeting where I told them I was speechless (I really was) I closed my door and had to cry for a few minutes. Usually I am the stone cold bitch but these people got through my defenses without even trying.
My secretary came in about 10 minutes later and had some handi-wipes and warm packs. She can already read me. I asked what I had done to deserve all this. She told me I did not micromanage them and I let them do whatever they wanted as long as they produced.
If one of them fucked up they did not have to worry about getting yelled at or fired - I'd call them in, ask why and usually asked them if they learned anything and it was over. She told me two of the girls are ready to have my baby for me whenever I find the right guy.
I called Pops and he was surprised I had not seen this coming - he told me I was one of the best managers of people he had ever seen. After lunch I got two dozen roses addressed to the best Piece of Ass in the city.
When my secretary brought them in I told her to read the card. There were three other girls in with me and when they heard the card they immediately needed details. I was bright red - whomever sent them was about to get the vase stuck up their ass. Of course I knew better then to let anyone open my mail. Once I got a package that looked like flowers but was an assortments of leaf-stripped tree branches, horse whips and fly swatters.
The card said pick my choice and meet them at a local hotel. It took over a week to convince everyone I had no idea who sent it. And I have never found out. I keep waiting for a similar box to show up.
I figured the flowers were safe because they had come through security AND they were in a vase AND the card was easily visible and accessible. Should have fucking known.
I wonder what the rest of the office thinks. I'll need to talk to my grapevine a few floors down for the latest gosip.
But it was a great first day back - I'm going to pick up the Captain on the way home. Pops and him are going to test the Dani's engines. I think I'll find a quaint little spot somewhere on the way home and test the Captain's engines and let him vote for the best piece of ass.
